Welcome to Deep in the Heart: A collection of my porch thoughts.

If you’ve been around here for a while, you may know me as the voice behind Lazy Jackalope. But there’s another name I answer to just as often: Porch Mama.

I’m Courtney, a wife, mama to two spirited and sweet little ones, and a multi-passionate business owner building businesses with heart. Life around here is full in the best kind of way. Some days that looks like client calls and creative planning. Other days, it’s working in the garden while kids play outside, wiping sticky fingers, or rocking a baby while dinner simmers on the stove.

And in the middle of it all? The porch.

Some of my clearest ideas and deepest reflections have come from slowing down out back, coffee in hand, kids running barefoot through the yard, chickens scratching in the dirt, flowers gathered in tiny fists. There’s something about that pause that brings life back into focus.

That’s where Porch Mama was born.

What started as a space to share motherhood, farm life, and everyday favorites has grown into something more: a perspective. A way of living. A lens I carry into everything I create.

Now, Porch Mama has a new home here inside Deep in the Heart.

Because the truth is, Lazy Jackalope has always been about more than tees and sweatshirts. It’s about the people who wear them. The wild-hearted. The story collectors. The sunset watchers. The families building slow, meaningful lives deep in the heart of Texas (or wherever their roots are planted).

Here on the blog, you’ll find Porch Mama thoughts woven in naturally: reflections on motherhood, building our home from the ground up, learning to garden and keep bees, raising chickens, creating a cozy space to land at the end of the day, and chasing big dreams while holding tight to the little hands beside me.

You’ll find practical favorites, sustainable swaps, behind-the-scenes business lessons, and honest conversations about balancing ambition with presence.

Mostly, you’ll find the in-between moments.
